Personnel Officer—Personnel

Requirements: Individual should have at least three years experience in Human Resources with emphasis on recruiting and labor relations; be extremely detail-oriented and able to work under pressure; have excellent verbal and written communication skills; have strong listening skills and proven ability in conflict resolution and team building; and be diplomatic, open-minded, tactful, and persuasive. Familiarity with current technology is critical; knowledge of and proficiency in ADP PayExpert and Excel are strongly preferred. College degree is required, advance degree desirable.

Responsibilities: The Personnel Officer will manage Human Resources activities for an active, engaged union and non-union Museum staff of over 300 people; work with all departments to assess personnel needs and actively recruit candidates for an exciting and fast-paced arts institution seeking to expand the diversity of its profile; oversee all phases of the recruitment process, including résumé review, interviews, employment offer, and orientation; assess, administer, and make recommendations for HRIS and employee benefits; supervise the payroll process and ensure accuracy on all levels; act as representative to the Museum's union, DC-37; ensure the Museum's compliance with the union contract; act to resolve grievances and other concerns of union members; and coordinate and streamline processes of the personnel staff. Other duties will be as assigned.

Reports to: Vice Director for Finance & Administration

Starting date: Immediately

Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

Compensation: Salary will be commensurate with experience, including excellent benefits package.
