Grants Writer—Development
Requirements: Person must be energetic, organized, and able to juggle multiple assignments while working effectively under pressure; must have three years professional experience with government and foundation grants and prospect research; and must possess excellent written, quantitative, and computer skills, as well as a keen attention to detail. The ability to work independently and meet deadlines is essential. Knowledge of Raiser's Edge software is helpful, and familiarity with New York and national funders of culture and education is a plus. Individual must treat confidential materials with discretion.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Manager of Foundation and Agency Relations and in collaboration with staff museum-wide, individual will develop persuasive, well-written grant applications and proposals to foundation and public-sector funding agencies to help achieve the Development Department's annual revenue goals for special projects and general operations. Grants Writer will administer active grants with careful attention to reporting, donor recognition, and other terms; maintain grants calendar; conduct prospect research; draft donor correspondence and inquiries; help expand case materials for use in other development areas; analyze and report grant revenues; and collaborate with other Development staff to create and implement a unified solicitation strategy for Museum projects and programs.
Starting date: Immediately
Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evenings and weekend hours are necessary on occasion.
