Imaging Interns—Digital Collections and Services

Time frame: ongoing
Schedule: part-time, M—F, schedule to be determined
Compensation: this is an unpaid internship; intern will have Museum volunteer status

The Brooklyn Museum seeks interns to work on imaging projects in the Digital Lab. A limited number of positions are available, generally of 3–4 months minimum duration on a semester schedule. Preference will be given to students registered in credit-granting programs.

Interns will assist with the digitization of negatives, prints, transparencies, and slides; searching for the matching object record in the collections management system (TMS); linking the image to that record and adding technical metadata. Selected interns may also assist with copyright research. Interns with digital photography skills may have the opportunity to work with curatorial staff on collection documentation projects.

Qualifications: computer skills, familiarity with scanning and PhotoShop, camera skills, visual acuity, attention to detail.
