Corporate Sponsorship & Institutional Giving Intern (P/T)—Development
(Non-union, unpaid internship position)
Requirements: The successful candidate for this position must be actively enrolled in or have recently graduated from an educational program in arts administration, museum studies, art history, non-profit management, or other applicable courses of study. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Raiser's Edge fundraising software, although training will be provided; demonstrate an interest in art history or museum development; possess excellent communication skills and attention to detail; and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Responsibilities: The Intern has the opportunity to learn firsthand how a professional fundraising team at a major art institution functions. This position is integrated with both the Corporate Fundraising and the Foundation/Government team. Specific responsibilities include learning the steps in donor engagement and stewardship; completing training and developing competency with Raiser's Edge; researching prospective donors after learning how to use various prospect research tools and databases, including the Foundation Directory Online; and drafting donor communication under the guidance of the Senior Corporate Manager, Senior Institutional Giving Officer, and the Development Associates.
Reports to: Institutional Giving Officer
Starting and ending dates: Immediate, through the end of the academic year
Work schedule: Approximately 20 to 30 hours per week
Compensation: This internship is unpaid. The Intern will be issued a Brooklyn Museum I.D. for the duration of the internship, which includes a discount in the Museum Shop and The Counter café, as well as free admission to most art museums throughout the United States. Academic credit may be possible.
