About: Volunteer Opportunities

The Museum is seeking interested, energetic people of action to join us as volunteers. To volunteer, we require that you be at least 18 years of age and have flexible, primarily daytime availability. Computer skills may be required for some assignments. You can support us by joining in the following roles:

Project-based Volunteers:

The Museum and its various departments hold many special events that involve hands-on, time-sensitive tasks requiring dedicated staff. Project-based volunteers are called upon on short notice depending on departmental need and are expected to complete assigned tasks with quality performance within a specified amount of time. This opportunity requires a flexible schedule, with occasional evening hours needed based on the event or task.

Knowledge-based Volunteers (ongoing):

As a large, multifaceted cultural institution, the Museum needs volunteers with specific experience or knowledge in areas including, but not limited to, the following: photography, copyright information, data entry, general art history, finance, personnel, and general office management. Knowledge-based volunteers are placed throughout the Museum based on departmental need and may volunteer one to five days a week. Hours and days are flexible.

Administrative Volunteers (ongoing):

Volunteers at this level assist in the overall administration of the Museum’s many departments. Specific assignments support a variety of clerical duties that may include filing, answering phones, entering data, managing RSVPs, and implementing mailings. It’s also preferable that administrative volunteers be computer literate. Volunteers are placed throughout the Museum’s departments based on need and may volunteer one to five days a week. Hours and days are flexible.
