Throughout the Museum,
An afternoon of performances and film featuring established and emerging contemporary African artists working in music, film, and literature, in celebration of the exhibition Yinka Shonibare MBE. Highlights includes the film This Is My Africa (Zina Saro-Wiwa, UK/Nigeria, 2008, 50 minutes), about the Africa that exists in the hearts and minds of native and non-native individuals; a dramatized reading of contemporary texts presented by the Chinua Achebe Center for African Literature and Languages; a gallery talk by celebrated performer and fashion designer Wunmi; as well as live music performances in the Sculpture Garden, including Rwandese electro-pop artist Iyadede and Sierra Leone’s reggae and hiphop ambassadors, Bajah and the Dry Eye Crew.
