Film Screening and Panel Discussion: Mirrors: Experiments in Portraiture
Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium, 3rd Floor
The online feminist film quarterly Joan's Digest and the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art present Mirrors: Experiments in Portraiture. This selection of work from renowned, Brooklyn-based filmmakers Amy Granat, Leslie Thornton, and Marie Losier will be followed by a panel discussion on the experimental film industry. All three filmmakers work in 16 mm, and many of the shorts screened—which vary from double-channel projections to music videos—offer portraits of artists, including, in some cases, self-portraits of the filmmaker themselves. The post-screening discussion will explore what it means to be an experimental filmmaker today.
