Fall Teacher Institute: From Museum to Classroom, Integrating Meaningful Arts Learning

Saturday, October 20, 2012

9 am–4 pm

Education Division, 1st Floor

This six-day course for K–12 teachers explores best practices for museum and arts education through a combination of art-making, visual arts literacy, and interaction with Brooklyn-based artists and museum professionals. Take a behind-the-scenes look at the Brooklyn Museum’s galleries, resources, and programs, and develop lesson plans, inspired by the Museum’s collection, that support the diverse needs and learning styles of your students. Gain engaging, multimodal strategies for facilitating meaningful interactions with art, and design classroom studio experiences that build skills for analyzing, interpreting, and creating works of art. This course will illuminate each strand of the Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Visual Arts.
