Hrag Vartanian, editor of Hyperallergic, talks with artist Valerie Hegarty and Raw/Cooked artist Marela Zacarias about the ways their work references and remixes history for a contemporary audience. Hegarty’s upcoming exhibition Valerie Hegarty: Alternative Histories will open on May 17 in the Museum’s Period Rooms. Zacarias’s installation Supple Beat is on view in the first-floor Martha A. and Robert S. Rubin Pavilion.
