Hands-on Workshop: Quilting Photographs with Sabrina Gschwandtner

Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 2 p.m.
Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art, Forum, 4th Floor

In this two-hour workshop, artist Sabrina Gschwandtner will introduce quilting processes that can be used to interpret photographs. Participants will learn about the artist’s technique of combining photography with quilt-making, and how her work explores shifts between photographic realism and abstraction, and between art and craft. Participants will then use their own images to hand sew photo-based quilts using iconic quilt design patterns. Bring at least ten 4 x 6–inch photographs. Sewing materials and additional photographs will be provided. To RSVP, please call (718) 501-6429 or email sacklerprograms@brooklynmuseum.org.
