Members at the Family level and above are invited to the Museum’s annual Family Member Event! Children of all ages will enjoy curator tours, as well as learning and creative activities, a book reading, snacks, and more.



In our Galleries…



2 p.m. Visit the exhibition Gravity and Grace: Monumental Works by El Anatsui with Kevin Dumouchelle, Associate Curator, Arts of Africa and the Pacific Islands (registration required; see below), and explore these adventurous pieces that transform everyday objects into site-specific sculpture.



3 p.m. Walk through the installation Life, Death, and Transformation in the Americas with Nancy Rosoff, Andrew W. Mellon Curator of the Arts of the Americas (registration required; see below), and learn how universal themes are explored by indigenous peoples of the Americas, past and present.



Art-Making…



"Painting with Watercolors"

Artist Franz Spohn shows you how to use a variety of watercolor paints, brushes, and gel pens to create your own work of art.



"Radical Watercolors"

Discover what happens when salt, coffee, plastic wrap, glue, and other materials you never thought belonged with watercolors are added to your paintings.



Meet the Author…



"Drawing with Scissors"

Brooklyn illustrator Nathalie Trovato reads from her book In My Garden and shows children how to make colorful paper-cut illustrations. All materials provided. Three different early-reader book sets will be available for $29.95 (Members $23.96).
