Explore the connections between art and resistance through African dance that, for nearly four centuries, has reflected the struggle for empowerment and equality. KowTeff African Dance Company and featured guest company Oyu Oro present dance from the old Mali Empire to Afro-Cuban forms derived from the Yoruba-Lucumi culture of West Africa, one of the principal sources of enslaved peoples.
Tickets are $20, $16 for Museum Members, and $10 for children twelve and under. To purchase tickets, visit kowteff.org or call (718) 443-6361.
