Discussion: “Building Women’s Knowledge Institutions: A Conversation in Honor of Mariam Chamberlain”

Sunday, October 12, 2014

2–2 pm

Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art, Forum, 4th Floor

This intergenerational conversation highlights experiences of those who have created institutions that generate and share knowledge about women to catalyze social change. Participants include Florence Howe, founder of the Feminist Press at the City University of New York; Debra Schultz, former Assistant Director of the National Council for Research on Women and the Soros Foundation’s International Women’s Program; and Gwendolyn Beetham, gender studies scholar-activist who has taught at the London School of Economics, Rutgers University, and Brooklyn College and edits "The Academic Feminist" for Feministing.com. The event honors Mariam Chamberlain (1918–2013), founding president of the National Council for Research on Women.
