Reading: Siri Hustvedt’s The Blazing World

Brooklyn author Siri Hustvedt reads from her 2014 novel, The Blazing World, which explores perception, prejudice, identity, and gender bias in the art world through the struggles of her female protagonist, artist Harriet Burden. A conversation with the author and a book-signing follow.



Hustvedt is the author of five novels, The Sorrows of an American, What I Loved, The Enchantment of Lily Dahl, The Blindfold, and The Summer Without Men, as well as a growing body of nonfiction. In 2012, she was the recipient of the Gabarron International Award for Thought and Humanities, and in 2014, she was long-listed for the Man Booker Prize. She lives in Brooklyn.
