Teacher Leadership Program: “We’re All Human Here: Meeting Teens Where They Are”

Thursday, March 19, 2015

4–6:30 pm

Education Division Studio 3, 1st Floor

"Adolescents are ... just people trying to learn how to make it among the adults in the world, who are probably not so sure themselves."

—Virginia Satir, The New Peoplemaking, 1988

We’ve all gone through adolescence and understand the excitement, questioning, and frustration that goes along with it.  Now that we’re teaching teens ourselves, keeping the trials of adolescence in mind is key to making strong connections with our students.  Maybe you’re already excellent at this in your classroom, or maybe you feel you could use some tips. Either way, come and share best teen teaching practices.  We’ll see how to reach teens in the art museum and in the classroom, and talk about the connections between those two spaces.

This free monthly series of workshops helps teachers engage with our collections and exhibitions. We welcome educators in all subject areas, especially those who teach teens. Please come at 4 p.m. for coffee, snacks, and conversation. We’ll begin promptly at 4:30 pm.

Register in advance here or by phoning (718) 501-6236.  If you have further questions, email us.
