Photography Workshop: “Politics, Portraiture, and Identity” RESCHEDULED

Saturday, July 18, 2015

2–2 pm

Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art, Forum, 4th Floor

NOTE: This workshop has been rescheduled for September 26 and 27. Details will be posted here soon!

In the exhibition Zanele Muholi: Isibonelo/Evidence, the artist uses photography and testimonials to create visibility for black lesbian and transgender communities in South Africa. In the spirit of Muholi's work, Sherley Olopherne, photographer, archivist, and curator of the Black Lesbian DIY Fest, leads a two-part photography and storytelling workshop, taking place July 18 and 25, focusing on self-representation and personal narrative. Learn the basics of portrait photography and compile your photos and testimonials as a storytelling tool.

Open to all; no experience necessary. All materials provided. The workshop fee, which includes Museum admission and refreshments, is $35; $25 for Museum Members. This workshop is limited to 20 participants.
