Brooklyn Talks: Africa’s Influence with Reni Folawiyo and Kehinde Wiley

Thursday, June 22, 2023

7–9 pm

Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium, 3rd Floor

In celebration of our new exhibition Africa Fashion, explore the influence of African culture and style through this conversation with visionaries who are championing creativity on the continent. Reni Folawiyo is a cultural entrepreneur from Lagos, Nigeria, known for her role in shaping and defining contemporary African style. Kehinde Wiley is both one of the world’s foremost painters and the founder of Black Rock Senegal, which brings together international artists to live and work in Dakar. Folawiyo and Wiley will speak with award-winning Lagos- and Brooklyn-based journalist Lola Ogunnaike, providing insight into the creative renaissance taking place across Africa.

Tickets are $30 and include after-hours admission to Africa Fashion. Member tickets are $20. Not a Member? Join today! Add a copy of the exhibition catalogue at checkout.

This program will include ASL interpretation. For access needs, please email us at access@brooklynmuseum.org.
