This image is from an album of sixty-one photographs published as the result of a French government expedition to Bolivia. The photographs record the archaeological work that took place there and document how a major pre-Columbian site appeared at the turn of the century. The photographs were taken by Hermanos Sintich, two brothers based in La Paz who had specialized in producing cabinet cards of portraits of Bolivians.
