as a contemporary of many of the artists i was delighted to view their critical takes on the america of the 60,s onward - in such a wonderful variety of perspectives. some, like ringgold, i was familiar with since the inception of her work;others, like rosler, i only learned about in retrospectives, and some, like may stevens, i am seeing for the first time. the curatorship (on the cards) is excellent: enlightening without being overbearing, and gave me a lot to think about. taking down the conventional notions about men and women, american pieties and even , if one reads all the articles in the displays as i did, the sexist language of the male and female writers alike - this exhibition should be a must see for high school and college students as well as the general public. the ironic critiques of war and sexism and cultural moresby these women (not girl) artists ring as true today as they did in the times when they were made.

The post by" Chuck Norris" proves that Rosler's work is still controversial - does it do more bad than good? I'm glad the conversation is still open, but wishing the ignorance wouldn't find its way here. I guess it always does

Woman experiencing themselves as living dolls, fantasies in the eyes of men... Why are we not beyond this yet? Maybe as our culture becomes more instant, hand-held, disposable this will only increase. I wonder how often men feel it, too.

This is a great show. It is so refreshing to see what women were up to in the heedy days of pop art and 60s culture.
Thanks so much for organizing such a stunning and important group of women.
