Cerridwen
Mythic, worshipped in Wales, exact dates uncertain
Cerridwen, a magician from Welsh mythology, brewed a potion of knowledge for her ugly son, Morfran, but the kitchen boy who stirred it accidentally ingested it instead. He gained all the knowledge in the world and fled from her. As she pursued him, they both changed into various forms, she eventually becoming a hen and eating him in the form of a grain. Cerridwen became pregnant with Morfran and when he was born, she threw him in the sea. He survived to become the famous poet Taliesin.
