Elzbieta Druzbacka, the first major Polish woman writer, had no formal education. Much of her poetry focuses on nature and the beauty of the Polish landscape. She also wrote romances, such as Ortoban's Story and A Marriage Exemplary by Faithful and Constant Love, and essays on the emancipation of women. Her best-known works include Description of the Four Seasons and The Four Elements.
