Hera

Hera, the Greek goddess of marriage, was the wife and sister of Zeus, god of sky and thunder and ruler of Mount Olympus. She was also the mother of Ares. Many legends of Hera recount actions inspired by jealousy of Zeus' many affairs and illegitimate children, the most famous of which is Herakles and the twelve labors that she forced him to carry out. She was very important to the ancient Greeks, evidenced by the presence of early monumental temples in her honor, most notably in the cities of Samos and Argolid.
