Ingrida
Flourished late 15th century, Vadstena, Sweden
Ingrida (Ingrid) Persdotter, a nun in the convent of
Saint Birgitta at Vadstena, Sweden, is remembered for a single verse epistle of 1498 addressed to a young knight named Axel Nilsson. Scholars have found the combination of unrequited love and mystical devotion in Ingrida's epistle reminiscent of the writings of
Héloïse.
