Martha of Bethany
Biblical, flourished circa A.D. 30, Bethany, near Jerusalem
Martha, the sister of Mary and Lazarus, lived with her family in Bethany, outside of Jerusalem, although they may have also lived in Magdala, a city in Galilee, for a period of time. There is no historical information for Martha; she is mentioned only in the Bible, which says she was an early follower of Jesus Christ, converted after witnessing his miraculous resurrection of her dead brother Lazarus.
