Myrtis of Anthedon
Flourished circa 550 B.C., Anthedon, ancient Greece

A poet from the ancient Greek city of Anthedon, Myrtis lived in the sixth century B.C., a contemporary of Corinna and Pindar. As in Corinna's case, some sources mention Myrtis as a teacher of Pindar—one of the nine great lyric poets of ancient Greece—so it would seem that either one or both of these women had something to do with his poetic training.
