Rose de Burford

Rose Romeyn, daughter of a wealthy London merchant, married her father’s business partner, John Burford. Rose was actively engaged in her husband’s business, the wool and spice trade, and among their chief clients was the Wardrobe, a state office that supervised expenses of the king’s household. When John died around 1322, Rose assumed full management of the business and acquired extensive properties.
