Thalestris
Mythic, known in ancient Greece, beginning circa 1200 B.C.

Wishing to breed children with extraordinary courage and intelligence, the Amazonian queen Thalestris brought 300 Amazons to Alexander the Great, king of Macedon, presumably to be serviced by the renowned military commander. The outcome is unknown.
