Vashti
Biblical, reputedly flourished circa 450 B.C., Persia (modern-day Iran, Afghanistan)
Vashti is mentioned in the Old Testament Book of Esther as the wife of King Ahasuerus of Persia. Bragging to other men that his wife was the most beautiful, he ordered her to appear naked before them, but she refused. She was then banished from his household, possibly beheaded, and the king took Esther as his wife in her place.
