Benedict XVI Confession Chamber, detail of lasercut priest vestment
Interactive textile installation, created in response to Pope Benedict editing women out of the bible in his new book for children. Repeated images of a ball-gagged Pope Benedict together with CAD embroidery name and commemorate each and every biblical female. The commemoration has been formed into a confession chamber to record the link of 'sin' with women and some of the bible's more misogynous passages. The confession chamber contains sealed confessions from feminist figure-headers such as The Guerrilla Girls, Prof Bracha Ettinger, Annie Sprinkle, Catherine Opie. All viewers are invited to make their own confessions and leave them hidden or revealed within the chamber. Techniques used include: CAD embroidery, digital print, screen print, stitch, and laser cutting.
