After sitting for a portrait, Gwendolyn wrote, "Amazing Grace. I am beautiful."
The experience of standing before a monumental body is very different from that of viewing a life-sized portrait. In these large-scale paintings, I am interested in creating an effect that is both confrontational and enveloping.
