Mourning Circle
Ernesto Pujol. Mourning Circle, 2006.
Description:
Mourning Circle was a 30-minute live performance enacted on June 2006 in the garden of the Mc Nay Art Museum in San Antonio. The work mourned the many Arab men killed in the Middle East. The artist walked meditatively and obsessively tracing a stone circle by a fountain, whispering a monologue and crying uninterruptedly, as if disconsolate. The 6-minute sepia video is set to a soundtrack lament sung by Farida and the Iraqi Ensemble.
