Wedding Dresses 1941-1971
Judy Gelles. Wedding Dresses 1941-1971, 2006.
Description:
This image is from the series, “Family Ties: Three Generations” These still lifes of my family artifacts become a social commentary on our lives, past, present, and future. I have photographed my mother's wedding dress from 1941 and my wedding dress from 1971. My mother was married during WWII in the living room of her parent's home. There was no time or money to plan a formal wedding. Thirty years later, I had a more traditional wedding.
