Between Girls

Between Girls

Karen Marshall. Between Girls, 1985–2008.

Description:

tween Girls offers an up-close view of the coming-of-age of a group of young women- middle-class New York City girls- as they age from 16 to 39 between the years 1985 and 2008. A rumination on friendship among women, it explores the emotional bonding between girls at sixteen and their identity as women today.

Combining narrative photography with complementary methods of story telling found in new media it integrates traditional social documentary photography with audio and video installations.
