Wheels of Fortune

Lucinda Luvaas. Wheels of Fortune, 2009.

Description:
Synopsis

Blindness and sight
beginnings and endings--
wheels of fortune.
Mother and child
beginnings...
Where will their futures take them?
to the sea? to unending circles?
to blindness?
Laughter, a baby swirling in embryonic fluid
eyes wide awake...aware
laughing
Fear lurks alongside.
An accident, a sudden death
on the road
we see so suddenly
we step into it alarmed,
stop and stare ahead.

Wheels of fortune
where will it all lead?
To the forest or to a city, a lonely road?
or to the universe always beginning
and never ending?
We try to grab hold--
grasp the butterfly that's
always beyond our reach.

But now, in the clouds
forever young, eternal
joyfully peaceful
and free
we see our

wheels of fortune
and
in the end
that's all there is
to be.
