Over for the Day (still)
Sam Jury. Over for the Day (still), 2009.
Description:
A short video depicting two events: the endless drifting of a bound figure in an exterior with no specific time of place and the disruption of matter, airborne in the atmosphere. This work takes the notion of suspended trauma and uses it as a visual device to critique society's relationship with film, document and drama. Devoid of narrative, the figure is deliberately stripped of identity (gender, race, age etc) and covered in white fabric so as to become a 'blank' with which the viewer can empathize but also compartmentalize as 'other'.
