The American Hero and the American Dream

Academics, journalists, and comedians explore the ways in which the two presidential candidates have been framed by the media. The panel includes Charlton McIlwain, Assistant Professor of Culture and Communication, NYU; Gloria Feldt, author and political commentator; and Ramin Hedayati, producer at "The Daily Show," MSNBC. The panel is moderated by Courtney E. Martin, columnist for The American Prospect Online. This panel discussion took place in the Forum of the Elizabeth A. Ghada Amer: Love Has No End

Ghada Amer: Love Has No End, the first U.S. survey of the renowned artist's work, features some fifty pieces from every aspect of Amer's career as a painter, sculptor, illustrator, performer, garden designer, and installation artist. These include the iconic Barbie Loves Ken, Ken Loves Barbie (1995/2002), The Reign of Terror (2005), and Big Black Kansas City Painting-RFGA (2005), as well as a generous selection of works never before exhibited in this country.

Arts activists the Guerrilla Girls, a group of anonymous women or "feminist masked avengers" fighting for gender and racial equality, were honored at the fifth annual Women in the Arts luncheon held on Friday, November 9, 2007 at the Brooklyn Museum. Proceeds from the event, organized by the Museum's Community Committee, a volunteer organization, benefit a wide range of Museum programs.
