Film screenings at the Museum forge connections between the fine arts and popular media. On select weekends throughout the year, classic and contemporary films explore themes and ideas found in the Museum’s special exhibitions and permanent collections, or celebrate cultural events like Black History Month and Women’s History Month. Films are often followed by a discussion or question-and-answer session with filmmakers. Film programs are free with Museum admission, unless otherwise noted. See a schedule of upcoming films.
The Brooklyn Museum has also been proud to host important community film festivals, including the Brooklyn Film Festival and the African Film Festival/New York. Rent the 450-seat Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium for your next screening event, or submit a proposal online or at firstname.lastname@example.org for your film to be screened at the Museum.
