Education: After-School Visits




The Museum welcomes after-school students in self-guided visits to the Museum. Reservations are required. To learn more about the Museum's collections, teaching strategies, or how to lead gallery visits, instructors can enroll in a variety of programs for educators or use pre-visit resources available online and at the Museum. Self-guided groups may not tour the American art galleries. One adult chaperone is required for every ten students.

Fees for Self-Guided Gallery Visits
(Maximum of 30 students per class allowed. Price includes up to five adult chaperones.)

$35 per class for New York City after-school programs
$50 per class for after-school programs outside New York City

Fees for Self-Guided Gallery Visits for Classes with Special Needs
$1 per student for New York City after-school programs
$1.50 per student for after-school programs outside New York City

Self-guided visits are offered Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 11 a.m.–4:45 p.m. The Museum is closed every Monday and Tuesday.

All visits must be reserved in advance by faxing or mailing a form to the Marketing and Visitor Services Department. Download scheduling information and a reservation form. Reservations are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Please submit your request at least three weeks before your first date preference. Your reservation is not scheduled unless you receive a written confirmation from the Brooklyn Museum. To receive a copy in the mail of the School Programs Brochure, which includes information for self-guided after-school groups and a reservation form, please e-mail your address to youth.tours@brooklynmuseum.org.
