The Brooklyn Museum is one of four museum partners in the New York City Museum School (NYCMS), a public school (grades 7 through 12) located in Chelsea. The “Museum Learning Process”—structured around observation, inquiry, research, synthesis, analysis, presentation, and reflection—is central to the curriculum. Students work in galleries and classrooms at the partner museums multiple times each week. At the Brooklyn Museum, students have focused on the collections of ancient Egyptian art, Chinese art, and American art. Museum educators and licensed teachers collaborate to design curricula and to support the diverse needs of their students.
