THIS GUY SHOULD TAKE SOME ART CLASSES THAT IS WHAT I THINK
His work is brilliant and enlightened. It took a lot of courage to tell it the way it was. He had so much to say and the energy it took is clearly shown in the freshness of his work. He was complete and he did what he was sent to do in his time. Peace!
Jean-Michel Basquiat was a very eccentric artist. He used art in ways we see differently today. To me he overstepped the boundaries that we call 'art'. Basquiat shows his true self in his paintings.
To me Basquiat's paintings were cries for help. Basquiat was in a car crash when he was younger. Also as a young adult he was involved in drugs. When you look at his paintings he looks like he still has the mentality of a child.
I think this painting shows alot of pain and the way for him to show it is in his paintings in his paintings i think he show and express himself in all his paintings.
with this painting or graffiti art is an expression of how a part of him inside felt inside. he seems to have been a person that had and opinion about everything in his life or just what ever is around him. and the way he expresses it is in a style all of his own that some may want to argue is not art.
in this picture it shows determination because it shows a symbol of the car accident that he was in when he was in as a child and now most of his paintings has something dealing with car accidents. also in his picture it gives out a message with a a name that is related to a man that is incarcerated his name was jimmy best who was graffiti artist - if i had to rate this picture i would give it 8 because there are things that are missing like the coloring looks kind of dull but u can see the image and understand it. if i had to improve this picture i would have add more brightness instead of such darkness.
I think this painting symbolizes pain. The way he uses the color red in this painting makes it seem like the JIMMY was going through pain. The way he uses the car accident in this painting i dont think it symbolizes physical pain but more mental because he says JIMMY want to suckepunch his his childhood files. Menaning more memories and more mental scaring. If i had to improve one thing about this apinting it would adding some paint. Maybe if he used some paint he could of maked it looked like it was driping blood and people would understand the pain more. Also I think he should of emphasized the some of the rest of the painting like he did the E with vertical lines. He could of made the words Suckerpunch and Childhood more exciting so that people would knowt hats his key points
IN THIS PAINTING I THINK THE ARTIST IS TRYING TO SHOW HIS PAIN ON THE CANVAS THE PERSON HE IS DEPICTING JIMMY IS GOING THROUGH SUFFERING THE WAY THE ARTIST PAINTS THE PORTRAIT TELLS ME HE TAKES THIS SITUATION TO HEART.
I think this painting is expressing the crashes we go through
in life. We try so hard to succeed in what we are doing, and
then we fall, and try so hard to get back up. I think Basquiat
was looking for pity in this painting. "Jimmy Best" might be
a name he called himself.
I personally find it irritating. I don't see energy, feeling, perspective, etc. I think its garbage. I also realize its all about personal taste and interpretation, however, it has no taste, nothing to interpret. Can we be more over-philisophical about it? Can we try to make art of it? Yes.
