I love the image. I just wish it were relevant to this exhibition...
My god, he doesn't even notice. This is a terrific image, though i'm not sure it illustrates the theme.
The image is certainly powerful, but not explicitly about Brooklyn. He seems lost in his own world
Such a stark indication that life goes on.
Very powerful shot.
wow this is heart stopping thank you
haunting and remarkable
Great composition - interesting foreground/background.
bravo, stunning
he was unaware of the event and enjoying his moment
I love the contrast in this photo.
A contrast in emotions...knowing what is happening where the smoke is and the calm fisherman.
I find this an incredibly disturbing photograph—which makes it what? excellent? The world as we knew it was on the brink of the totally unknown & unknowable. Everyone I knew in Bklyn at that exact moment was riveted, couldn't take their eyes off of the horror of the burning towers, couldn't believe what they were seeing, and this guy isn't phased? This is not the changing face of Brooklyn I know.
wow
Absolutely incredible
I lived in Brooklyn, with my two very young children, the day this photo was taken. Brooklyn may not have changed as much as did Manhattan, that day, but certainly, overall, to me this photo captures something close at the root of the changing faces of Brooklyn.
amazing!
Possibly the best ever picture of 911. The displacement between the serenity of the fisherman and the burning and collapsing WT tower is most effective. As if this was just an unusual fire happening the other side of the river!
this is poignant because people always say nothing gets to us. How symbolic of our apathy at some things.
Great photo, but not because it has anything to do with the changing face of Brooklyn
Looks like a fabulous photograph from the earlier 20th century. The subject matter certainly encapsulates change. Frightening once one realizes the date on which it was taken. This is one of the best photographs here that I've seen yet (at about 90 now) and really creeps up on one with great effect visually and mentally.
I love this. Life goes on in Brooklyn.
This completely stops you in your tracks. Haunting, scary, peculiar, ambiguous, unsettling. Composed well, shot well and a completely new perspective of what happened that day. My knee jerk reaction to someone submitting a 9/11 shot would be negative, but this image is very strong.
Oblivious or purposeful?Marvelous picture.
I like that he reminds you that Brooklyn is changing, even if he doesn't appear to be grasping it himself. — Posted by Karley
