Artist Statement
In 2005, we moved from Park Slope to Bushwick, or as the real estate agent sold it to us, “East East Williamsburg.” Over the past three years, we've been exploring the neighborhood by foot, taking photos and watching it transform. I turned a corner one afternoon and there was a boat named Nausea parked on the street, with no explanation – an art installation by one of our neighbors perhaps? A few days later it was gone. To me this image embodies the clashing of cultures around us – the results are sometimes funny and often puzzling, but always interesting.

Boring composition.
An interesting image, but a rare instance, not a permanent change that would imply a changing area.
I love this picture! It really captures the quirlyness of the city. It really makes me smile.
Modern city life certainly strikes a surreal note now and then, so this certainly fits in with the changing face of Brooklyn theme. Great sense of movement in the sleek lines of the boat, the blurry moving bus, and the perspective lines of the road and bridge above meeting in the distance off to the left.
Only in Brooklyn LOL!!
If the boat was named Nausea, maybe you should have shot it from behind so the viewer could see it. Even without the title, it's an effective pic, with its startling incongruity--meeting of a shoreline and heavily industrialized, wall-to-wall asphalt culture!
Only in Brooklyn would you see a boat under an elevated train track.
The weather started getting rough, the tiny ship was lost...
Don't know about change here but Nausea? Truly strange and evocative of the weird juxtapositions in metropolitan life.

Great sense of humor. Also, years from now, this image will show these 'vintage' rides as classics from our time.
Shira, I knew your picture would be selected for the show. I got such a laugh out of it. What a wonderful sense of humor you must have. I hope I'll meet you at the First Saturday. — Posted by Patricia Perlo
