Artist Statement

SCHAUPLÄTZE The machine ate the nice little houses with funny windows and gardens, the vacant lots and deserted factories. It bulldozed everything every day, destroyed everything in the process... dreams and nightmares - rolling relentlessly towards oblivion. Schauplatz {m} site, stage, scene, venue, locale, location, showplace, theatre [Br.], theater [Am.] Schauplatz {m} eines Dramas setting of a drama Schauplatz {m} des Verbrechens scene of crime In my daily documentation of the loss of much familiar and comfortable, I catalog and archive endangered physical and human landscapes around me. All photographs were taken between 1997-2008 with a Mamiya 7 II.

Stunning! the spewed wooden parcels help guide the eye around an otherwise impressionistic-painting. The boarded windows of the strong building emphasize what once was a solid, powerful, structure of humanity. KUDOS!

This photo's use of colour distinguishes it from more mundane shots of recent demolition.

We have to be aware of what is happening around us. These photographers are making the day-to-day changes take a form for all to reconsider.

title and image reminscent of WWII concentration camp...

artist's title and description are nice complements to this unsettling document image resonates with grainy black and white photographs showing mountains of personal effects found in the death camps

It's not clear by the language if this is in Brooklyn. (Label takes away from the image.)
