Artist Statement

An icon of Red Hook's scorching past, this Grain Factory is a reminder of its uncertain future. From my Red Hook art studio, I see Ellis Island and remember the journey of my Italian family.My paintings reconstruct the rich narrative quality of old photographs as a way to understand my past and how it collides with our scorching political present.
