Artist Statement

it's been nearly a year since i took this picture, in that span of time nearly everything pictured has been torn down in preparation for the construction of an ikea. the cobblestone streets have been paved over in anticipation of the nearly 50,000 cars per week the developers predict. this image is a composite of 7 shots, joined in photoshop.

Ugh - excellent photograph, and unfortunate reminder of the ravages of greedy developers.

Wonderful shot !!

so far the best. dramatic and cool!!

i like it.

rock solid.

wonderful composition.

nice photoshop work, but i thought the rules were minimal manipulation

Composite of seven shots? Quite admirable in every way.

beautiful shot, nice contrast of a lucious sky against the bleak decline of american and brooklyn industry.

Pair this with the images of old wharfside buildings and the new IKEA on the left in the background. That would give it fuller context. Both are beautiful images.

Nicely composed. A very familiar area, once found in most industrial towns. Sky adds a dramatic or wistful touch.

I'm glad the photographer clarified that the photo is a composite of 7 shots, because it is not the street I remembered.

Lovely shot of the innocense of weathered places of former workers doom. I can assure you that within 5 years the Ikea will very much be like this. — Posted by ines van dijk
