Artist Statement
Nowhere else have changes been as apparent as on the Brooklyn waterfront. Recreation areas are progressively replacing spaces that were previously closed to the public, creating much needed urban oases. This picture was taken in the newly created Brooklyn Bridge Park, once a parking lot. It now connects Dumbo to the East River and offers some of the most spectacular views in New York City. I used a Canon 20D on a tripod for a 10 second exposure to capture the available light and the few spectators enjoying the moment.

bravo! what a great shot.
The lighting looks like a movie set, very nice!
I agree with the author's description; however, Manhattan takes up about 70% of the shot. To me it just communicates that even in an exhibit about Brooklyn- the main attraction is Manhattan.
The photograph is beautiful, well composed - the comments well illustrated.
A superb night exposure.
refelcts change. Good technically, good composition, atrractive. The claims of the text match the claims of the photo (unlike the preceding 10 photos).
very well done photograph. The city looks like a jewel.
The lighting is magical.
very sharp and technically very well done! Living verve
new york city is not brooklyn but it is pretty
Looks like tourist image for a NYC brochure.
I like this photograph, but not for what the artist intended. It looks to me like the people are watching nyc as if it's a show-- which makes me think of the many new comers to brooklyn, quick to become apart of the "fantasy" of what they think nyc is.
Too much space on the left for an otherwise beautiful shot. Crop off to half of the third building from the left and remove the distracting dark bush for balance.
Brooklyn is cleaning up and developing green-spaces along the River
This is a beautiful photo. The colors dancing on the water are absolutely perfect.
Fantastic!
I like it a lot but as much as you are in Brooklyn, you are looking @ NYC
pretty as a postcard
Postcard worthy
the image is lovely but reminds me of a postcard. i gloss over it quickly. it doesn't hold my attention or make me think about the changing state of brooklyn.
.A tranquil and beautiful setting on the edge of the city

Lovely shot. How do we see more? — Posted by Tabla Rasa Gallery
Also inspired by the famous shot from Woody Allen's 1997 movie 'Manhattan'. A nice shot, particularly to get the people in the image so still on a 10-second long exposure. — Posted by anonymous

The artist makes a good point about waterfronts being a catalyst for change. They are traditionally places where cultures get exchanged through trade and visits. However, the subjects in this piece are all admiring the NYC skyline, something I would consider a symbol of change, but this time in reference to New York. Points for the harbor, but deductions for the NYC skyline. — Posted by Steve Berry
