Artist Statement

Brooklyn is known for its diverse cultures. Throughout the borough’s many distinct ethnic neighborhoods is a constant ebb and flow of change. What remains a constant is Brooklyn’s architectural permanence. I chose the black and white medium to provide a timeless quality to the image. For me the view of this particular street captures the architectural heritage of the borough of Kings. The Manhattan Bridge, cobblestone streets, trolley tracks and brick buildings bear witness to the changing faces of Brooklyn. I like the image in between the gaps below the bridge. Its a little hard to view but I think it makes the shot.

Beautiful capture !!

Great shot. I could see that on my wall ,but it doesn't nail the theme.

I like the photo better than the statement. Architectural permanence is on its way out in our borough.

A cliche shot that's been photographed for decades, made even worse by an extreme telephoto.

its been done

I like these iconic Brooklyn photos. A lot of the old still remains in spite of the imposition of the "new."

A digital black & white "timelessness" can't possibly rescue this cliche of a photo.

Excellent lighting.

stunning.

fabulous photo...how many times has it been made?

Great architectural juxtapositioning....but standing as a witness..is rather like the unchanging face of Brooklyn.

even grays flatten the image. the image needed more contrast. but a nice vista.

liked the photo but the tonal balance seems off...more detail in highlights.

A technically beautiful photograph -- values, lines, crispness, depth, it's all there. Thank you!
