Artist Statement
Walking with my son through our neighborhood I keep having to explain to him why everything around us is being torn down and replaced by tall, modern buildings. He has witnessed the destruction of his surroundings on a daily basis ever since he was born. When he's old enough to leave on his own, the neighborhood will looking nothing like the one he was born into. This image is both of him, and the neighborhood. I used a Canon 5d, 24mm focal lenth, 400iso, no flash

This is an excellent example of the changing face of Brooklyn, the building and all the new children being born in the borough, is reflective of Brooklyn becoming a place for families to be raised.
The lone kid looking back in front of the bombed out building creates a visceral response in me.
Could have played more on the smallness in the child against the grim and dominating structure, like its a monster robot, if taken from a lower angle that the structure really looms over the child as the child turns his head seemingly searching for safety. The white sides could be cropped.
beautiful contrast in subject matter.
brilliant
really u want use this-'?
Nice clash there between building and little boy. I liked it.
photo with interesting quirk
Good - but do we really believe that she had to keep explaining the changing face of Bklyn to her son? Please - don't include the comments in the exhibit
