Artist Statement

Bringing the illegal trips toward Puerto Rico in El Canal de la Mona together with the Dominican habit of stopping for certain activities in los paradores along the freeways, D'La Mona Plaza is a project that tries, through absurdity, to denounce these tragedies.

mordant, hilarious, astute, angry. conceptual entrapment! political art doesn't get better than this. should be presented deadpan to each of the US presidential candidates as a kind of triple litmus test on their immigration stance, worldliness, and sense of humor.

this is wonderful. It is so ironic and i loved the way it creates this illusionary resort in a part of the world that is the most dangerous and that reflects a pattern of fertile migration pattern. I love the absurdity of the notion that it would be air conditioned and have all these 5 star amenities
