March 16, 1941: The art classes of The Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences, which have for years been a part of the educational and cultural life of the borough of Brooklyn, will hold the annual exhibition of work of the students of the Institute’s Extension School in the fields of art and photography, at the Brooklyn Museum, from March 17 through March 30.
In addition to oils, water colors, pencil sketches, sculpture and photographs, there will be a section devoted to the work of the Children’s Saturday Morning Art Class, whose members range in age from seven to fourteen years.
All the classes are conducted in the Academy of Music. The art classes are under the supervision of: Robert Brackman, Robert Laurent, John R. Koopman, John I. Bindrum, Louis Chap, and Cleo Lytle Shaw. The photography classes are headed by: Herman de Wetter, John H. Kiem, Thomas O. Sheckell, Norris Harkness, Charles Coles and G. L. Briem.
The Institute announces that it will not be possible this year to include mural painting as a class in this subject, conducted by Jean Charlot, has not been in existence long enough to produce a suitable exhibit.
